FRIDAY, DEC. 26
Winter Whale Watch Week - Dec. 26 – 31, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Hatfield Marine Science Center, 2030 SE Marine Science Dr., Newport. If you’re headed to the coast, Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Center will have games, films and hands-on activities with a focus on gray whales. From mid-December through mid-January, the whales make their journey south to the warm waters of Baja Mexico, passing the Oregon coast along the way. Admission is $5 per person, ages 5 years and older. Admission is free for children younger than 5 years. See here.

Corvallis Folklore Society’s The Best Cellar, 7:30 – 10 p.m., Martha Room, First United Methodist Church, 1165 NW Monroe Ave, use north entry. At 7:30 p.m. Chris Dopke presents songs from “the great American songbook.” At 8:30 p.m. the Celtic quartet, Us and Them, plays twin fiddles, guitar and bodhran, stitching together music from Cape Breton, Scotland, Ireland, Quebec, among other interesting places. Admission is pay-what-you-will, with a minimum of $2; kids are free and welcome. See here.
