FRIDAY, MAY 29
Soundbox 9 - Stargazers: Space, Sound & Image, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, PRAx, 470 SW 15th St. A two-day hybrid intermedia festival to explore creative practice at the intersection of sound, image, and space. This year’s festival highlights original works inspired by stargazers and space science. Events include installations and performances to be held in Ray Theater with select online and hybrid programming, such as a 24-hour game music hackathon. Native American Flute Circle, noon, SEC Plaza, OSU, 2501 SW Jefferson Way. Current and past students of the Native American Flute course will be playing songs in harmony with special guests. Hundreds of shaker instruments are shared with the audience so they can accompany the flute players.
CORE Social Meet-Up, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., Common Fields, 545 SW 3rd St. An informal gathering of CORE (Corvallis Organization for Real Empowerment) to socialize and learn more about what’s on the horizon for creating equity in the community. See here.
Mañana Será Bonito Latinx Cultural Show, 5 – 9 p.m., OSU Memorial Union Ballroom, 2501 SW Jefferson Way. A cultural show honoring different aspects of Latin America through performances and music. There will also be a photo booth, resources, music and raffle prizes. See here.
Herb-of-the-Month Celebration, 6 – 7:30 p.m., Willamette Grange, 27555 Greenberry Rd. Join a local herbalism student in learning about a new herb each month. You are encouraged to bring any of your own herbal knowledge, resources, or recipes to share. May’s herb will be Dandelion. This is a free gathering, not a class; extra resources to take home will be available by donation to support the continuation of the event. Supplies are limited; RSVP here.
Unionizing Your Workplace, 6 – 8 p.m., manyworld, 1013 NW Taylor Ave. A free workshop for workers who are interested in forming a union. Free, donations welcome. See here.

Anne of Green Gables, 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Zion Lutheran School, 2800 NW Tyler Ave. Join Zion Lutheran School for an evening in Avonlea as the beloved story of Anne Shirley comes to life on stage. Admission is free. See here.

Engage Corvallis Downtown Walking Tours. Take the Corvallis Chronicles tour at 7 p.m. this Friday to discover key moments in the region’s history. The Full Moon Ghosts & True Crime tour takes place at 8:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday. Delve into the eerie world of ghosts, murder, and grisly accidents in downtown Corvallis. The Majestic Theatre presents Tiny Beautiful Things, 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, The Majestic Lab Theatre, 115 SW 2nd St. Based on the bestselling book by Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, Tiny Beautiful Things personifies the questions and answers that “Sugar” was publishing online from 2010-2012. When the struggling writer was asked to take over the unpaid, anonymous position of advice columnist, Strayed used empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles both large and small. Spring Sing!, 7 p.m., Detrick Hall, PRAx, 470 SW 15th St. Spring Sing! brings together OSU’s like-voice choirs – the Meistersingers and Bella Voce – for a powerful culminating performance to the year. Corvallis Saturday Farmers Market, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., 1st and Jackson, downtown Corvallis. Visit with No Food Left Behind of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition for tools that will help you waste less food and save money. Linn-Benton Community College will share information about its expanded summer schedule. Learn about scholarships, grants, and loans available to women through P.E.O. International & P.E.O. Oregon. Beaver Disc Golf Fundraiser + State Championships, 9:30 a.m. start, Adair Park, 7295 NE Arnold Ave. A one-round fundraiser event with all proceeds going toward supporting Beaver Disc Golf. Entry is $15, see here for registration information.
64 Bits or Less, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Solar Building, Benton County Fairgrounds, 110 SW 53rd St. A retro gaming festival and swap meet. Play classic games on original hardware. Friends of Benton Gardeners Spring Plant Sale, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., outside, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2650 NW Highland Dr. Supporting garden education in K-12 schools and beyond. See here.
Get Outdoors Day, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Peavy Arboretum. A bilingual, free family event hosted by OSU Research Forests, Benton County Health Department, and OSU Extension. There will be fishing, archery, crafts, bug hunts, and more to encourage families to spend time together outside. Bring a picnic, enjoy free snacks, or purchase food on-site. Park at Crescent Valley High School (4444 NW Highland Dr.) and take a free, on-going shuttle to the event. People who need accessibility accommodations are welcome to park at Peavy Arboretum and can use a wheelchair accessible shuttle to visit the activities. See here.
Lumina’s Spring Memorial – A Community Event, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., floral courtyard, Benton County Fairgrounds, 110 SW 53rd St. Remember and honor those who have died at this event, with refreshments, a meditative walk, live music, and arts & crafts for the entire family. Science Saturday, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., Main Meeting Room, Corvallis Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave. A special science-themed storytime, followed by activities that encourage the exploration of literacy, science and math. Designed for preschool-age children.
Benton County Historical Society’s 75th Anniversary Party, 12 – 6 p.m., Philomath Museum, 1101 Main St., Philomath. The 1950s will be in full swing. La Raza Growing Juntos Talent Show & Fundraiser, 5 – 8 p.m., Majestic Theatre, 115 SW 2nd St. The event will feature Baile Folklórico, youth voices through Theatre of the Oppressed Improv; traditional Mexican music; and spoken word & storytelling. La Raza Growing Juntos is a community-rooted initiative dedicated to uplifting Latino families through culturally affirming, bilingual, and intergenerational programming. Through four core programs--Grupito Bilingüe, Campamento Bilingüe, La Raza Teens, and Mujeres Perseverantes--they provide holistic, community-led support that nurtures families across all stages of life.
