Peace March, 11 a.m. – noon, starting at CH2M HILL Alumni Center, 725 SW 26th St. An Oregon State University tradition, the march provides an opportunity to join in solidarity with community members and reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of creating transformative change through non-violence. Participants are led across the Corvallis campus on a 1-mile route, from the CH2M HILL Alumni Center to conclude at the Student Experience Center Plaza for speakers and community. Free and open to the public. Participants are invited to bring signs re-reinforcing Dr. King's messages of non-violence.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth & Family Event, 1:30 – 3:45 p.m., Corvallis Museum, 411 SW 2nd St. Activities include: 1:30 p.m. storytime with Corvallis Councilor Briae Lewis to learn about Dr. King and social justice; 2:30 p.m. presentation about race, culture and empathy, led by Corvallis School District high school and middle school students who are members of the district’s Students Advocating for Equity (SAFE) initiative; and 3:30 p.m. the importance of building community through dialogue and service. Also, watch brief videos about Dr. King, explore the museum, and complete a fabric square reflecting personal commitment to community betterment. The museum will be open and free to the public this day from noon – 4 p.m. Organized by the City of Corvallis’ Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion advisory board. See here.

Dr. Karen Korematsu will speak about her father, Fred Korematsu, who defied the military’s wartime orders to leave his home and fought for justice all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. She will share insights into his life, including one of the most infamous civil rights cases in U.S. history and his path to being awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom. Free, RSVP here.
